Most Uniquely American

Newsmax magazine has named Ellicott City as one of the “most uniquely American cities and towns.” The list was compiled by Peter Greenberg, the travel editor for NBC’s Today Show. Peter ranked 25 towns that he felt “embody America’s core values.

Ellicott City was ranked 17, getting high grades in education, family friendliness and business friendliness. At least it didn’t cite being “zoned against big boxes” as one of its endearing attributes.

Ellicott City was the only town in Maryland to make the list. You can see the entire list here.

To all of the negative people who only see the problems,

The current leaders, who have been there now for three years, must be doing something right!

Please give us a break. There are other prior leaders who also deserve credit for Ellicott City's status.

Probably more likely that EC made the list despite local politics/politicians. There are a lot of hardworking private individuals who put a lot of creative energy into local businesses that make EC a nice place.

Jesus H, people. How about everyone just shut up about who deserves credit? You sound like third graders.

Is this really what gets talked about in Howard County? Clearly, affluence does not correlate with maturity or intelligence.
