Four years ago I put my townhouse on the market right after January 1st. I spent New Years Day taking down the Christmas tree and all of the holiday decorations in order to make the house look less cluttered. I found the exercise to be extremely cathartic. The holidays were over; it was time to get on with the business of the New Year.
Ever since then I have taken down my Christmas tree on New Years Day and this year was no exception. This morning, while nursing a mild New Years Eve hangover, I dissembled the tree and put it out to the curb just in time for the first day of curbside recycling for Christmas trees.
It’s very cleansing.
