High Marks for HCGH

Howard County General Hospital has been named to the 2009 Distinguished Hospitals for Clinical Excellence List by HealthGrades.com. HCGH was one of only 270 hospitals recognized nationally putting it in the top 5% of all hospitals in the country.

According to an article in Nurse.com, “patients admitted to a hospital receiving this designation are, on average, 27% less likely to die and 8% less likely to suffer from a major complication.”

While I heartily congratulate Vic Broccolino and all the staff at HCGH, the real winners are the citizens of Howard County.

I agree that HCGH should be recognized for excellence. Vic Brocolino has done an exception job administering the hospital. In fact, I've hear among the staff he is practically a living legend. They are motivated, trained, intelligent, empathetic, and deliver the best healthcare possible.
Have you ever been to the emergency room? Plan on waiting 4+ hours if you are not in cardiac arrest.
Oh well, I guess nothing's perfect.
