Scene This Week In...

I was driving into the Wal-Mart on Ridge Road in Ellicott City when this sign caught my eye. I can’t figure out whether it means a ban on overturned trucks or that entering the lot upside down is prohibited. In any event, it seemed worthy of recognition for Scene This Week In Ellicott City.

The Columbia scene is of Tony Walker and Icarus One. Tony was one of the entries in today’s Kinetic Art parade at the 21st Annual Columbia Festival of the Arts. Tony is a Pediatric Operating Room nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital. His Icarus One bike is powered by both a solar cell and a wind turbine. According to Tony, the bike “was created entirely from discarded items bound for the landfill. You can learn more about him at http://galleryid8.com/.
He is pictured here with Columbia attorney Chris Tien.

Thanks for your photograph. Though the "No trucks" sign is on Walmart's property, the County's Traffic Engineering Department will notify Walmart's property management team and advise that the sign needs to be corrected.

Wow Candace!

That's a pretty cool response to a simple blog post. You have actually given me a new idea for a new blog initiative. Stay tuned.

...and by the way, congratulations on your new position with the county.
