The Columbia Wegmans store moved a little closer to becoming a reality yesterday. According to this article by Larry Carson in today’s Howard section of the Sun, county hearing examiner, Michelle La Faivre, “dismissed an appeal based on alleged discrepancies in the traffic analysis for the store.”
The opponents however, vow to fight on, even it if they have to go to federal court. Wegmans, on the other hand, is still planning to start construction next year.

I am glad to see Wegmans moving forward with construction. At this point it is a low risk that the appeals to the board of appeals and the courts will succeed. Waiting until all the appeals were over would have been just what Carvel Mays wanted. His objective is obvious. Possibly win an appeal or drag the process out as long as possible and hope Wegmans gives up.
Wordbones -- Any other news on Wegmans? I drive by looking for construction, but I haven't seen anything.
