Rand Griffin, the CEO of Columbia based Corporate Office Properties Trust has been named the 2009 Newsmaker of the Year by the Baltimore Business Journal.

I was with Rand in a 20,000 sq ft home at a fundraiser once. He told me that he couldn't understand owning a 20,000 sq ft building which wasn't earning income. Not an unsurprising, tongue in cheek remark from someone who knows the ins and outs of the real estate business.
