It’s official now. According to this story by J. Freedom du Lac in today’s Washington Post, the 2009 Virgin Mobile Music Fest will be held at Merriweather Post Pavilion on August 30th. This year’s music festival is being dubbed “FreeFest” and, as the name implies, all 35,000 tickets will be free.
"Virgin Mobile customers and previous V-Fest ticket-buyers will get first crack at the tickets, beginning tomorrow. Tickets to the event, dubbed FreeFest, will be made available to the general public beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday on http://ticketmaster.com/."
This year’s line-up includes Weezer, and Public Enemy.

Isn't 35,000 a lot for Merriweather?
I thought 20K was capacity? I guess they figure the other 15,000 souls can wander in the woods - I predict a huge mess. Maybe like "The Who" but without the late 60's rebel excuse?
