Count me as one of those who always thought of December 21
st as the first day of winter. Science was never one of my strong suits so I was a bit surprised to discover that this year it actually occurs on December 22
nd. It’s all tied to the Winter Solstice of course, that day when the sun is as far away from HoCo as it gets during the year. This means that tomorrow will be the shortest day and the longest night.
The good news is that on Friday the days will start getting longer again. As someone who is not exactly a fan of winter, this is a hopeful sign.
