On August 27th Wegmans received final approval of their Site Development Plans for their store in Columbia. This approval clears the way for the company to apply for their building permit and the actual construction of the 160,000 square foot store. According to my sources this puts the store on track for a summer 2012 opening.
Though the megagrocer originally submitted a SDP back in November of 2007, they subsequently amended it to provide for a second entrance. The original plan called only for an entrance off of McGaw Road across from Apple Ford. The amended plan provides for a right in, right out entry on Snowden River Parkway. That presumably is what has caused the delay, not the silly lawsuits.
