Yesterday I received an email the Howard County Public System with the subject line “Testing Comcast Delivery.” The message was short and succinct “Testing - We are testing Comcast delivery services. Please ignore this message. Thank you.”
Today I received yet another email from the school system on the same subject. This time the message read “Still testing Comcast delivery. Thank you for your patience.”
My question is, how many times does Comcast get to take the test before they get a non passing grade?
Good one. Zing! The school system sends too many non sensical email messages as it is, then they add this to the mix. Also, the advertising on those email messages is thoroughly outrageously priced. Unbelievably pricey. And it goes to, like, two people who click the send button and maintain the db of names. What a gravy gig.

ReplyDeleteI'm wondering about the notion that HoCoRising and I would have kids together. We don't even live in the same school district, so how would that work out?
ReplyDeleteJokiness aside, I wouldn't be where I am without the education and experiences I had at Hammond High School (and HCC, but not sure if that counts). Having moved to Howard County in my early teen years -- just like my wife -- I can't speak to elementary and middle schools, but I know that Hammond was far better for me than the schools I attended in Anne Arundel. Like many others in Howard County, schools are a big reason why I choose to live here (even though it's four years away, I'm excited for my daughter to go to a HoCo public school).

What I don't understand is why there are people who support publicly funded education and yet don't support vouchers (not sure if that's anyone in this thread or not). I think it is a failure of government that the quality of your school depends on your zip code.
ReplyDeleteParents are the key to education. Public schools are just an adjunct.
ReplyDeleteYou're forced to pay taxes, so why not expose your children to the masses in a semi-controlled environment since you're paying for it anyhow?
Just make sure you innoculate them against stupidity before subjecting them to public schools.
I mean, who wants average children? Next thing you know, you'll be in Lake Woebegone.
