Ellicott City is going to be the happening place in HoCo this weekend. Beginning with the Hills of Milltown 5k road race on Saturday morning and culminating with the season premiere of the Second Sunday Market on Sunday, the old town will have things to do for all ages. There is an all day scavenger hunt planned for the kids and the Ellicott Mills Brewing Company will be previewing a new Spring Blossom Ale for the dads. Later on Saturday night the whole family can enjoy a screening of the Pink Panther in the parking lot of The Wine Bin.
Civil War buffs will enjoy the special exhibit about that period at the B&O Railroad Museum that will include three free outdoor concerts by the Federal City Brass Band on Saturday at 11:30 AM, 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM
It looks like the weather gods will be smiling on HoCo this weekend so it will be a good time to put off the yard work and get out and check out the local scene.
Join us on the plaza in front of the B&O Railroad Museum: Ellicott City Station for a free concert with Baltimore's own Federal City Brass Band. The Federal City Brass Band, founded in 2002 by Jari Villanueva, of the faculty of UMBC, and Mark Elrod, recreates the sound and appearance of a regular U.S. Army regimental brass band of the 1860s. With the exception of some reproduction rope-tension drums, all of the instruments used by The Federal City Brass Band are originals dating to the mid 19th century, and come from the collections of band members and from the Mark A. Elrod Collection. The sources of the music the band plays include original band journals and sheet music of the Civil War era.
ReplyDeleteYea, it's a nice place. Too bad it's corrupt.
ReplyDeleteMy wife and I went to the Second Sunday market today. It was a beautiful day. They had a small band playing nice relaxing music. We bought a loaf of bread, some brussel sprouts (after getting a lesson from one of Tersiguel's chefs on how to make it non-bitter), and a Greek olive oil dip. We got sandwiches from one of the shops on Frederick Road and had a nice picnic outside on a bench near the Rumor Mill. Great time. We'll be back next month.
