Political Pen Pals

In a recent exchange initiated by Barbara Russell on the Howard County Citizens Association listserv, Delegate Liz Bobo offered to write a letter to the editor criticizing General Growth Properties plans for the redevelopment of Columbia Town Center for a certain “JD Smith.”

Is JD Smith another one of her hand puppets or is editorial letter writing become one of her constituent services?

It’s good to be back.

  1. I read the same thing and thought it meant she wanted him to look at the letter before she sent it to the editors.

When people read into a situation things that just were never there, I often find those things were true of the misperceptor.

  2. Anon 7:26 AM,

I'll let the reader decide. Here are her exact words:

"I wrote a letter to the editor I thought you may work on and send in tomorrow."

  3. Wasn't there more in the message?

Also, why can't she submit a letter, let someone look at it and then send it in for her? How do you know her name won't be attached to the letter? It hasn't happened yet and you're jumping to conclusions.

  4. This is strange. Why would a State Delagate need their hand held to write a letter to the editor?

  5. Bobo is always playing the Grey Eminence of Opposition... What are her real motives

  6. I'm so glad we have people who've never needed anyone to view a controversial position before speaking on the topic, aka hand-holding.

Your eminence, I bow before you humbly.

  7. Goleman's Social Intelligence talks about the inability of whole groups of people to read another person's face/demeanor with any accuracy. It just surprises me still each time it happens.

Looking for real motives says more about you than it does Liz Bobo.

  8. so let me get this straight...we have a budget crisis in Annapolis, and State Delegate Bobo spends her time penning editorials on local land issues? Priorities?

  9. I am proud that Bobo cares about her constituents and her city enough to help people write letters and to seek out help when she wants it.

  11. Perhaps Liz' time is past and we should change our representatives in Annapolis. Term limits sound better every day. Not only in Annapolis but Congress as well.

  12. The comment to "JD Smith" was obviously not meant to be public. She replied to the entire HCCA listserve instead of the intended recipient. Using her laptop under the name of Delegate Elizabeth Bobo was a different kind of error.
